Red Raiders to Host Final Home Matches this Weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team will complete its 2002 home schedule this weekend as it hosts the Rice Owls and the New Mexico Lobos.
The Red Raiders (11-8, 2-3 Big 12) have posted an impressive 6-1 record in the Hub City this season, including a 4-1 mark at the McLeod Tennis Center.
On Sunday, the team will honor senior co-captains Royce Ramey (Richardson, Texas) and Richard Crabtree (Hebden Bridge, England), who will be playing their final home match for the Red Raiders. Ramey has posted a 6-6 overall record with a 3-2 mark in Big 12 Conference play at the number one singles position. Ramey has teamed with sophomore Devin Wakeford and junior Alfonso Perez to register a 4-6 record in doubles action. Crabtree has posted an 11-5 mark in the number one through four singles spots this season. Crabtree and partner Ben Gudzelak have battled to an 11-7 record in the competitive first doubles slot.
Tech will take on Rice on Friday, April 12, at 2 p.m. and New Mexico on Sunday, April 14, at noon. Both matches will be played at the McLeod Tennis Center. Fans attending this weekend's matches will receive free pizza and the first 50 fans will receive a free t-shirt.
