Women's Tennis Struggles Through Tough Tournament

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team took on the Aggies of the University of New Mexico today at Nautilus and lost its third-and-final match of the Texas Tech Team Tournament, 5-2. The Red Raiders finished 0-3 in the tournament and are now, 1-3 on the season.
Tech's two points came in singles play from 64th ranked Irina Tereschenko and Barbara Schraml. Tereschenko defeated New Mexico's Tjasa Suvak, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4. She is now 4-0 in singles for the season. Schraml defeated New Mexico's Courtney Choate, 6-4, 6-3, to pick-up Tech's second singles win of the day.
The No. 3 tandem of Alenka Ovin and Kendall Brooks picked-up the only doubles win of the day for Tech. They defeated New Mexico's Courtney Choate and Michelle Heidbrink, 8-3.
The team travels to Colorado next weekend to take on the U.S. Air Force Academy (Feb. 22) and Big 12 opponent, the University of Colorado (Feb. 23).
