
Red Raiders Roll Over Nicholls State, 107-35

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Texas Tech, led by Andre Emmett's 21 points, crushed Nicholls State 107-35 on Saturday for Tech's widest-ever margin of victory.
The 72-point margin surpassed Tech's previous 65-point record, a 118-53 victory against Houston Baptist in 1992.
The Red Raiders (5-0) got off to a hot start, shooting 63 percent on 15-of-24 field goals in the game's first 13 minutes.
Seventeen of Emmett's 21 points came in the first half. He converted three of his four steals into easy dunks or layups. John Ofoegbu scored 15 points and Will Chavis and Ronald Ross added 13 apiece for Tech.
Tech, which at one point went on 29-2 run, scored 18 points on 12 turnovers and never trailed Nicholls State (1-3).
Tech led 54-19 at halftime.
The Colonels entered the game averaging 30 points in its two losses to LSU and Southern.
They made just 28 percent of their shots against the Red Raiders on 15-of-54 shooting. They did not score for the first 5:13 of the second half.
Earnest Porter led Nicholls State with 11 points.
