
Men's Tennis Heads To ITA Regionals

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team will compete in the 2002 ITA Regionals in Fort Worth, Texas Oct. 25-27. Eight members of the squad will be competing in the tournament.
Along with Tech, Arkansas, Arkansas-Little Rock, Baylor, Rice, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, SMU, TCU, Texas-Arlington, Texas-Pan American and Texas-San Antonio will all be represented at the regionals.
Competing for the Red Raiders will be seniors Devin Wakeford, Alfonso Perez, John Walker and Ryan Davies, sophomores Michael Innerebner and David Knaszak and freshmen Radek Nijaki and Diederik de Groot.
Perez has compiled an 8-4 mark in singles play this fall, while Wakeford is 7-3 and de Groot is 6-6. Nijaki competed in his first tournament last weekend at the Midland Invitational and finished with a 2-2 record.
