Men's Tennis Fairs Well at New Mexico State Invitational

LAS CRUSES, New Mexico --The Texas Tech men's tennis team sent three players to compete in the New Mexico State Invitational, an individuals tournament, this weekend. The tournament concluded on Sunday, Sept. 23. In doubles action, the Red Raiders were successful by winning the tournament on Sunday. Senior Richard Crabtree and Junior Alfonso Perez teamed up to beat New Mexico State 8-3 in the final. In singles, Junior John Walker and Crabtree both improved their fall record by going 2-1 for the weekend. Crabtree finished fourth, losing his final match to John Kowalske of New Mexico, 6-4, 6-3. Walker finished eighth, respectively. Perez won the Men's Open Singles Consolations-West after defeating, Jasmin Hodzic, from the University of New Mexico, 6-2, 6-4. He won four straight to advance to the consolation final after losing his first match. The Texas Tech men's tennis squad will return to action on Sept. 28, when they travel to Baylor University to compete in the Texas Intercollegiate Tournament.
