Tech to Host USTA Men's $15,000 Futures

LUBBOCK, Texas - The new McLeod Tennis Center, on the campus of Texas Tech University, will play host to the 2001 USTA Men's $15,000 futures starting with qualifying October 14, and the main draw starting the 16th. There will also be a 24 person Pro-Am being held on Monday the 15th. The Pro-Am will start at 5 p.m. with food following the event. Entries for the Pro-Am are due by 6 p.m. on Sunday the 14th.
The tournament will feature 128 players in the qualifying draw, October 12-15, and the main draw, made up of 32 on October 16-21. There is a $30 entry fee for the qualifying round and no entry fee required for main draw.
The new tennis center is undergoing a few last minute touch-ups and should be fully functional for the event.
Prior to the main event on the 16th there will be a wildcard qualifying round. The wild card round will be held on October 6th and 7th. Entries are due by October 1, and the entry fee is $25.
A Main Draw wild card round will be held on October 10th and 11th, with sign-ups due by the 9th. There is a $25 entry fee.
Participants in the main draw will stay at the Four Points Sheraton (505 Ave. Q, Lubbock TX, 79401) at a rate of $69. Contact Lisa Dixon at (806) 747-0171, for booking questions.
Those wishing to participate in either one, or both, of the wild card rounds make reservations at the Ramada Inn (4005 Olton Rd. I-27, Plainview, TX, 79072) by calling (806) 293-4181. Those wanting a single room must present reservation numbers 2424-2430. Those needing a double room must use reservation numbers 2402-2423. The room rate is $60 per night, and is limited.
