Women's Tennis Slams Sam Houston

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -The Texas Tech women's tennis team snapped a one match losing streak against Sam Houston State yesterday in College Station, Texas, 7-0. The Red Raiders improve to 8-7 overall and 3-6 in league play.
Beverly Dawson and Irina Tereschenko defeated Ivette Andrade and Diala Ammar of Sam Houston, 8-4 in the No. 1 doubles position. The duo leads the team with a 12-3 overall record and 6-3 in Big 12 play. Tech went on to win the remaining doubles positions to clinch the doubles point.
In singles action, Barbara Schraml competed in position No. 1 against Ivette Andrade. Schraml defeated Andrade in three-sets, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. With the win she snapped a seven match losing streak and had her second victory in the No. 1 position this year.
Tech won the final five singles matches to finalize the victory, 7-0. This is the fourth shutout this year for the Red Raiders. Tech won its first three-matches of the season with shutouts.
Women's tennis has two remaining matches before the conference tournament in Waco, Texas on the Baylor campus. Up next for Tech on Saturday, April 14 in Las Cruces, NM, will be the Aggies of New Mexico State.
