LINCOLN, Neb. - The Texas Tech men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Nebraska today at the Cather-Pound Courts in Lincoln, Neb.
With the loss the Red Raiders drop to 6-14 overall and 1-6 in the league. The Huskers' earned its second home victory of the year and improved to 8-12 overall and 2-4 in the league.
Tech opened play by taking the No. 1 position in doubles with Richard Crabtree and Ben Gudzelak defeating Fungai Tongoona and Kai Rieke, 9-7. The duo breaks the .500 mark with the win by improving to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in Big 12 play winning six out of the past seven. Nebraska took the two remaining doubles positions to earn the doubles point.
In singles action, the Red Raiders lone victory came in the No.3 position with junior Richard Crabtree defeating Adnan Hadzialic in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2. He snapped a six-match conference losing streak improving his record to 10-9 overall and 1-6 in Big 12 action.
The 2001 regular season will come to a close on Sunday, April 15 in Boulder, CO, against Colorado, but the Red Raiders will return to action in the Big 12 Tournament in Waco, Texas, on Thursday, April 26.
