LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Andre Emmett scored 20 points and Pawell Storozynski had a double double as Texas Tech defeated Minnesota 80-60 and notched its seventh straight win.
Abysmal shooting by the Golden Gophers in the second half and better rebounding by Tech (10-1) allowed the Raiders to pull ahead from a halftime tie. Emmett came out strong after the break, scoring the first seven points for Tech.
Minnesota (7-4) shot 8-of-36 from the field in the second half, sometimes missing wide open shots under the basket.
The game was Bob Knight's first against a Big 10 team since he coached at Indiana.
Storozynski scored 10 points and had 11 rebounds. Andy Ellis scored 16, and Will Chavis and Kasib Powell added 14 each for Tech.
The two teams took turns enduring scoring slumps in the first half. Tech was outrebounded and went scoreless for about four minutes during an 18-7 run by the Golden Gophers. Tech came to life after a timeout and scored 10 unanswered points during a three-minute span in which Minnesota committed four turnovers.
That pulled Tech even at 29.
Dusty Rychart scored 20 points and Travarus Bennett added 15 and had 10 rebounds for the Golden Gophers.
Four Minnesota players fouled out.
