LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Andy Ellis scored 23 points and Andre Emmett added 18 as Texas Tech beat Stetson 101-47 Saturday afternoon.
It was the sixth straight win for Tech (9-1), who scored at will and played suffocating defense throughout, contesting almost every shot by Stetson (4-4).
Emmett also grabbed nine rebounds, while Pawel Storozynskit added 12 points.
It was Tech's third largest point differential in school history, and the first time this season they scored more than 100 points.
The matchup was a contrast of coaching experience: Hatter coach Derek Waugh, 30, was coaching his 29th game, compared to Bob Knight with his 1,063rd.
The Red Raiders held the Hatters to the second fewest points scored before halftime this year with 28. Louisiana-Lafayette managed just 24 points before halftime.
Ravii Givens scored 11 points and Santos Hampton added 10 to lead the Hatters.
Tech's defense kept Stetson off balance as the Hatters managed only 14 points in 13 minutes in the first half.
Meanwhile, the Red Raiders outscored Stetson 25-7 in on eight-minute stretch. In the first half, Tech made 21 baskets and 15 of those came on assists. They ended the game with 20 assists.
The Hatters avoided scoring the fewest points against Tech in past 10 years. New Mexico scored only 43 points against Tech in November 1998.
