LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team dropped its fourth consecutive game and first-ever to the Sooners 3-0 Friday night in Norman, Okla.
Tech (2-8, 0-3) played well in the first half and even though the Red Raiders were out shot 8-2 in the first stanza, the score was knotted at 0.
Oklahoma (8-2, 2-1) still has not allowed a goal at home this season as goalie Catherine Wade recorded her first shutout of the season and the teams fifth overall. The first of Jonette Coquat's two goals came in the 61st minute of play on a penalty kick, while the her second goal of the night, and fifth on the year, came unassisted 16 minutes later.
Texas Tech lacked an offensive punch with senior Carrie Graham out of the line up, with a knee injury, as for the game the Red Raiders received shots from six different players, with only Rachel Mavris recording more than one. OU saw six players with multiple shots including Shannon Wing's game high six.
Wing opened the scoring in the 61st minute of play when she buried a pass from Heidi Martinson into the back of the net.
In losing its first game ever to the Sooners, Tech falls to 2-8 overall and 0-3 in Big 12 Conference play. The Red Raiders will look to end its four game skid on Sunday at 1 p.m. when they take on the OSU Cowgirls (5-5, 1-2) in Stillwater, Okla.
