Ames, Iowa - The Texas Tech women's soccer team dropped its 14th straight Big 12 Conference game, 4-1, Friday afternoon to Iowa State in Ames, Iowa.
Iowa State's Arlene Samuel scored in the eighth minute giving ISU a 2-1 lead at the 47:28 minute mark, a lead that Tech would not be able to overcome.
Once again Tech (4-13, 0-8) played well in the first half and even jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Rachel Mavris scored her 5th goal of the season. But the lead would be short lived as ISU's Nicki Wilcox knotted up the score 5 minutes later, with the first of her three goals on the day.
The Cyclones (4-8-2, 2-4-2) were not able to score again and the score was tied heading into halftime.
Our ball control was terrible in the second half," stated Tech soccer coach Felix Oskam. "We just keep giving away too many balls and we make it so easy for the other team to score."
ISU sealed the victory as Wilcox completed her second hat trick of the season putting the game out of reach for the young Tech squad.
The Red Raiders next head to Lincoln, Neb. to face the No. 9 Cornhuskers Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. The Red Raiders close out the season 2001 at home at 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 2, as they take on the Colorado Buffalos at R.P. Fuller Stadium.
