Tech's Ramey Wins First Round in Tennis

LUBBOCK, Texas-Texas Tech's men's tennis player, Royce Ramey, beat John Doran (Ireland), 7-6 (2), 7-6(4) today in the UTSA's $15,000 Futures Pro Tournament. He will take on Miguel Gallardo-Valles (Mexico) at approximately 1 p.m. tomorrow.

Lubbock's own Tres Davis beat the No. 2 seed, Jan Hernych (CZE) 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. He will play Takeshi Itoh (JPN) at approximately 1 p.m. tomorrow, as well.

Finally, the No. 1 seed, Paul Goldstein, beat John Paul Fruttero, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 at McLeod Tennis Center. He will play Will Farah following the 10 a.m. game Thursday.
