LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team could not score more than one goal for the seventh time in its last eight games as Mizzou downs the Red Raiders 4-1 Sunday morning at R.P. Fuller Stadium.
Down 1-0 the Missouri Tigers (9-4, 4-2) scored two goals within a minute to take a lead that it would never give up. The game-tying score came at 30:02 when Adriene Davis got behind the Tech defense and scored to the low-near side post. MU would tack on its second goal 53 seconds later as Melissa Peabody, on an assist by Davis and Carrie Crosset, received a back door pass and beat Tech keeper Brittney Peese to the far side. The Tigers took a 3-1 lead into the half when with less than a minute left Kristen Heil played a bouncing ball into the back of the net with her head.
Tech (3-11, 0-6) played a solid first 30 minutes controlling the ball and making sharp passes, giving it an early lead as Melanie Brosnahan scored her seventh goal, and second in as many games, on an assist from Kerri Campbell.
Missou would score its final goal of the game as Davis struck again, unassisted, 41 seconds into the second half.
The Red Raiders close out its four game home stand on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. when it takes on the Stephen F. Austin.
