
Men's Hoops Defeats New Mexico State, 71-65

LUBBOCK, Texas - Freshman Marcus Shropshire scored 15 points, including the 3-pointer that broke the game's final tie, and Texas Tech beat New Mexico State 71-65 Tuesday night.
The Red Raiders (6-5) went on an 11-0 run to take a 61-51 lead with 8:29 to play. But the Aggies (1-8) held Texas Tech scoreless for three minutes in a 12-0 run that tied the game 63-63 with 2:27 left.
Jason Mitchell gave Texas Tech the lead back with a layup, but Eric Channing, who finished with 22 points, brought New Mexico State into the final tie.
Shropshire then hit his third 3-pointer of the game with just over a minute to play.
Andy Ellis led the Red Raiders with 20 points, while Mitchell added 12 and Cliff Owens had 11 points and seven rebounds.
Daveeno Hines added 11 points for the Aggies, while Dennis Trammell had 10.
The Red Raiders hold a 34-21 lead over the Aggies in the series that began in 1932.
