Texas Tech Defense Ranked First

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech ranks No. 1 in scoring defense in the latest NCAA Division I Football Statistics. The Red Raiders are holding opponents to 6.5 points per game in four games this season.
The Red Raiders share the top spot with Clemson. Both teams have allowed only 26 points over four games. Kansas State is in the third spot, yielding 6.8 points per game in four games.
Texas Tech also ranks fourth in the country in total defense, limiting opponents to 200.5 yards per game. The Red Raiders are third and 16th in pass defense and rush defense, respectively.
Individually, sophomore linebacker Lawrence Flugence ranks second in the nation with 13.0 tackles per game. He trails Baylor's Anthony Simmons, who is averaging 14.3 stops per game. Flugence's 52 total tackles in four games leads the nation.
