Red Raiders will host two “Wear Black” games in night games against Houston and TCU
LUBBOCK, Texas – Less than a month from the start of the 2026 football season, Red Raider fans can now start planning their gameday attire accordingly.
Texas Tech unveiled Tuesday its fan color schemes for the 2026 season, which includes two "Wear Black" games for when the Red Raiders host both Houston and TCU in night games at Galaxy Stadium. The release of the color schemes follows Texas Tech's game theme announcement from earlier this summer, which includes Homecoming and the Celebrate America Game, among others.
Houston will serve as Texas Tech's Big 12 opener on Sept. 18 in a rare Friday Night Lights setting to kick off conference play. TCU, meanwhile, closes the regular season for the Red Raiders, who will be hosting the Horned Frogs on Thanksgiving night. Both games will be nationally televised with FOX covering the Houston opener in a 7 p.m. kick with TCU starting at the same time on ESPN.
Texas Tech will encourage fans to "wear red" twice during the season, beginning with the Sept. 5 opener against Abilene Christian and then again on Oct. 31 when the Red Raiders welcome Arizona to Galaxy Stadium. In between, Texas Tech will utilize its "wear white" color scheme on Sept. 26 for its annual Agriculture Game versus Sam Houston.
For the Raider Power game on Oct. 17 against Arizona, Texas Tech will divide Galaxy Stadium in half with the west side asked to wear white and the east side in red. Texas Tech will then "stripe out" the stadium on Nov. 7 versus West Virginia, alternating between white and red from section to section. A detailed map for both games can be found below.
Texas Tech's primary ticket inventory for the Sam Houston game is already sold out and tickets continue to move quickly for the remaining six home games. Fans can purchase single-game tickets at any time at TexasTech.com or during regular business hours by calling 806-742-TECH.
