Texas Tech men's tennis opens their fall season this weekend at the River Oaks Invitational in Houston, Texas. Representing Tech is standout junior Borut Martincevic and junior transfer Royce Raney.
The singles tournament will be held at the River Oaks Country Club, Friday, September 15 through Sunday, September 17 on clay courts.
"The tournament is being played on clay and I know both guys have a success on clay courts. Royce played on it in Italy and Borut grew-up with Clay," said second-year Assistant Coach Randy Rowley. "They are both upperclassmen and this is a good opportunity for them to get results early. The level of play is going to be solid."
Each player has been nationally ranked in their college career. Martincevic was 9-8 overall last year. He posted a 4-5 mark in the Big 12 Conference competing in position one and two. He finished in position one at 2-2 and a 7-6 record in position two.
The Red Raiders swing back into action Friday, September 29 in Tulsa, Okla. at the Tulsa Invitational.
