OKLAHOMA CITY - Stephanie Falk threw a complete-game one-hitter as eighth-seeded Missouri blanked sixth-seeded Texas Tech, 1-0, in the Big 12 Softball Tournament in Oklahoma City. The Red Raiders' Shauna Briggs ended Falk's no-hit bid when she led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. Briggs eventually made it to third base with two outs, but Falk struck out Kristi Tunnell to end the contest.
Falk, who struck out five and walked just one, improved to 19-16 on the season. Tech's Amanda Renfro recorded a solid performance, giving up no earned runs on three hits and one walk in seven innings. Her record dropped to 15-21.
Stacy Gemeinhardt scored the game's only run after reaching base on an error to start the sixth inning. After advancing to third, Gemeinhardt scored on a Linda Swarts foul ball that was caught by Red Raider second baseman Briana Nietert.
Nietert's momentum carried her away from home plate and allowed Gemeinhardt to cross the plate safely.
Missouri upped its record to 34-26 and advanced to face Texas A&M at 8 tonight. Texas Tech ended its season at 19-36.
