Red Raiders Compete on Day Two at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field teams are competing at the 73rd annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas this weekend. Three Tech athletes competed in events on Wednesday evening, the second day of competition.
Jesse Williams and Ryan Cruz competed in the men's 10,000-meter invitational run. Williams finished fourth in a time of 32:31.50. The time was a personal best for Williams and a seasonal best for the team. Cruz finished sixth in the event with a time of 32:40.84. Former Texas Tech athlete Michael Njenga won the event with his time of 29:40.06.
On the women's side, Kristen Koppes was the only Tech athlete competing. She finished 13th overall in the women's collegiate 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:12.29.
A number of Tech athletes will be in action on Friday, including the school record setting women's 4x100-relay team. The team, consisting of Monique Wright-Cruse, Sherri Coleman, Tami Zachary and Ngozi Iwu, will be competing in prelims this morning.
