Women's Tennis Falls in Season Finale

AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team dropped their final regular season match on Saturday, April 22 against Texas at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center. The Red Raiders close out the season 4-20, while Texas finishes 18-5, 10-0 clinching the conference title.
The Red Raiders dropped all six matches on Saturday. In the No. 1 singles position, Ayako Suzuki gave Vladka Uhlirova a run in the second set, but fell 6-1, 6-4. Position No. 3, Tech's Noel Ruiz fell to Kaysle Smashey 6-1, 6-2. The Red Raiders defaulted the No. 6 position, giving Texas' Alexia Palacios the win. Doubles action was not contested due to Texas clinching the match in singles.
The Red Raiders look for a fresh start in the Big 12 championships April 27-30 in Lawrence. Last year, Tech lost in the first round to Oklahoma, 6-2.
