Red Raiders Track Teams to Compete in Palo Alto

LUBBOCK, Texas - Fresh off a pair of second place finishes last weekend at the Texas A&M Multi's, the Texas Tech men's and women's track teams travel to Palo Alto, Calif. for the Stanford Cardinal Invite meet. The meet begins Thursday, March 23, and runs through the weekend.
A portion of the team will head to Arlington for a meet hosted by the University of Texas-Arlington.
Last weekend the women's team received a pair of record setting performances from their 4x100 and 4x400 relay team. The 4x100 team consisting of Monique Wright Cruse, Tami Zachary, Sherri Coleman and Kori Crampton ran a time of 45.90 while the 4x400 team of Shannon Spaulding, Ngozi Iwu, Melonie Barrow and Nina Roberts ran a time of 3:44.09. Both set new Texas Tech records.
The men are led by sprinter Carlos Francis. Francis won the 200 meter dash last week with a time of 21.30. Francis was also a part of the first place 4x100 relay team that ran a time of 40.62. Ty Williams leads the men in throwing events. At the Texas A&M meet he won the shot put competition with a distance of 17.10 meters (56'01.25").
