Fresno, Calif. -
Amanda Renfro pitched seven innings of no-hit, shutout softball this afternoon as Texas Tech defeated the Mississippi Rebels 1-0 at the Bulldog Classic softball tournament hosted by Fresno State. It was Tech's first win of the tournament and lifts their overall record to 8-19 on the season.
Renfro struck out seven batters while walking one in the victory, improving to 6-11 on the season. Mississippi's Lindsay Price managed to hold the Red Raiders scoreless until the seventh inning when Tech shortstop Paula Workman led off with a single deep in the right-centerfield gap. The next Tech batter, Brianna Nietert, hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring Workman home and give Tech the 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the seventh Renfro retired the Rebels in order to seal the victory.
Tech is back in action later this evening when they face Illinois State.
