Red Raiders Host Indoor Meet This Weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Track and Field teams will be in action this weekend when they host the Red Raider Indoor Classic. The meet runs Friday night and all day Saturday at the Athletic Training Center on the Texas Tech campus. The first events are scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Friday with the pole vault and women's 5,000 meter run. Saturday the meet runs from 9 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. Among the schools expected to compete are Abilene Christian University, New Mexico State, Odessa College, McMurry University and Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Leigh Daniel will be in action Friday night when she competes in the 5,000-meter run and again on Saturday afternoon when she competes in the 3,000 meter run. Last weekend Daniel ran a time of 16:02.28 in the 5,000, the fastest time recorded in the NCAA this season.

The meet will be the last tune-up for both teams before the Big 12 Championships in Ames, Iowa, next weekend.
