
Tech Men's Basketball Tops Stephen F. Austin, 54-51

LUBBOCK, Texas - Ronald Hobbs scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds to leading Texas Tech to a 54-51 victory over Stephen F. Austin on Saturday night.
Jamal Brown added 10 points and hit two free throws in the final six seconds of the game for Tech.
Tech (3-1) led by 13 points at halftime, 30-17. The Lumberjacks (2-3) slowly chipped away at the lead in the second half. With 1:23 left to play, Skip Jackson hit a 3-pointer, reducing Tech's lead to 52-51.
After the ball was inbounded on Tech's next possession, Jayson Mitchell's shot hit the back of the basket and the Lumberjacks Ji Thomas took it back down the court as his team called for a timeout.
Jackson then tried to hit a basket to put his team ahead, but Red Raider Andy Ellis blocked the shot and Jamal Brown rebounded it before being fouled. Brown hit his two free throws, increasing his team's sliver of a lead to 54-51.
Jackson drove the ball back down the court in the final seconds, but missed.
Ron Banks led the Lumberjacks with 11 points, and Ranson White grabbed 10 rebounds.
Tech's biggest lead was 17 points, coming with just over six minutes left in the first half off of a 3-pointer by Brown that increased Tech's lead to 26-9.
The Lumberjacks scored 18 points off turnovers. Tech got 13. The Lumberjacks continue to lead the series with Tech 5-3. However, the Red Raiders have claimed three of the last four games
