"I want you to know how much I appreciate the opportunity to be here at Texas Tech and here in Lubbock. I think I speak on behalf of all out staff on how much our families enjoy it here and how much we individually enjoy being a part of this program. The support here is tremendous. There are plenty of people here who support us, and it would take me forever to thank. Chancellor Montford, President Schmidly and Coach Myers, the support here has been unbelievable. Without this type of support, I don't believe we'd be able to take it to the ultimate goal that we want to take it to, which is to be second to none and at the top of this conference. I think with the help and support we continue to get in the community of Lubbock, we're going to be able to do that. I'm excited to be here and I appreciate the extension on behalf of the university."
On the affect on recruiting
"I think it's important because I think the biggest thing recruits look for is a program where there is good support and has a direction and is headed somewhere. And [the extension] manifests that. So I think it's real important."
On internet rumors and accusations and the affect on recruting
"It certainly doesn't help, which is why I don't have any hesitation whatsoever as far as attacking the source of such rumors. It obviously doesn't help, but I think the truth is going to come to the surface. The people involved in this are going to be exposed, and I think once that happens it may turn out to be a positive."
