LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Mario Layne scored a career-high 32 points Monday night as Texas Tech defeated Prairie View A&M 82-62.
After Prairie View overcame a 30-18 first-half deficit and tied the game 33-33 early in the second half, Tech (8-2) outscored the Panthers 23-5 in the next 10 minutes and took a 56-38 lead.
Layne and James Ware fueled the scoring spree with a combined 14 points. Ware converted three 3-point baskets and Layne added a 3-pointer and a dunk.
A pair of free throws by Andy Ellis gave Tech its largest lead of the night at 74-46 with 4:36 remaining in the contest.
Ellis also finished in double figures for the Raiders, scoring 25 points and adding 20 rebounds. Ware rounded out Tech's double-figure scorers with 15.
Gregory Burks led Prairie View (2-9) with 16 points. Sadit Montgomery finished with 13.
The Raiders have won eight of their past nine games.
