Women's Soccer Shuts Out Northwestern State

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Texas Tech women?s soccer team claimed a 3-0 shutout over Northwestern State in Fort Worth. The Red Raiders improve their record to 4-5-1 on the year.
Senior forward Kristy Frantz got the Red Raiders on the board first at nine-minute mark. Frantz knocked in the goal on an assist from junior midfielder Lindsay Thompson.
In the second half, sophomore forward Marie Valdez scored a header on a cross from Thompson at 85:47. Senior midfielder Lizzy Biles kicked in the final goal on as assist from junior midfielder Jennifer Hamm with a minute and a half to go in the contest.
Tech dominated the game at it outshot the Demons 27-5, while having eight corner kicks to Northwestern State?s six. Sophomore goalkeeper Kellie McCallister got her first shutout of the season, playing all 90 minutes and recording three saves.
The Red Raiders return home for games with Missouri on Friday, Oct. 1 at 4 p.m. and with Kansas on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 1 p.m.
