LUBBOCK, Texas - ? The Texas Tech women?s soccer team picked up another victory with a 3-0 triumph over North Texas. It was sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Peese?s second shutout of the year.
The Red Raiders scored their first goal in the first half at the 23:45 mark by sophomore midfielder Lauren Taylor.
? I told our kids at the half that one goal wasn?t enough against this team (North Texas),? said head coach Felix Oskam.
Tech responded in the second half by scoring two more goals. Junior midfielder Jennifer Hamm scored a goal at 83:40 on a direct kick. Approximately four minutes later, junior defender Kelly Taylor kicked one in to put the Red Raiders up 3-0 to claim their third victory of the season.
Peese recorded three saves in 90 minutes of action, while Tech outshot UNT 22-4 and had four corner kicks to the Lady Eagles' two.
?We played well today,? said Oskam. Our defense was much better organized. I was also glad to see us score some goals, which will raise our confidence. Overall, we played a good game.?
Tech, 3-3-1 on the year, will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. against Syracuse at R.P. Fuller Stadium in the last game of the Four Points Sheraton Shoot-Out.
