
Raiders Head Into Last Regular Season Match

Texas Tech was edged by Colorado, 1-0, last Friday in Boulder, Colo., and then lost 2-0 at Denver on Sunday.
At Colorado, the Buffs scored the game-winning goal at 27:49. The Red Raiders suffered an injury in the first half as senior forward Kristy Frantz went down with a sprained ankle after colliding with a Buff defender and did not return to the game. Tech outshot CU 16-10 and both teams had four shots-on-goal. The Red Raiders recorded six corner kicks, while the Buffs did not have any. Junior midfielder Jennifer Hamm had game highs of eight shots and two shots-on-goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Peese tallied three saves in 90 minutes of action.
At Denver, the Pioneers scored a goal in each half with the first one coming at the 41:41 mark and then at 88:17. The Red Raiders outshot Denver 20-10 with 17 shots-on-goal. Tech recorded seven corner kicks, while the Pioneers had four. Hamm had a game-high six shots with five shots-on-goal. Peese finished the 90-minute game with six saves.
This Week's Action
The Red Raiders will conclude the regular season with a Big 12 match-up at Baylor on Saturday, Oct. 30 before heading the Big 12 Conference Tournament Nov. 3-6 in San Antonio, Texas.
Baylors enters Saturday's contest with a 12-5 record and 5-3-1 in Big 12 play after beating Denver, 3-2, and tying Colorado, 1-1, last weekend. The Bears are led by senior forward Courtney Saunders in goals with 13, while senior midfielder Nikki Hales has scored eight times. Saunders also has team highs of seven assists, 96 shots and 52 shots-on-goal. Hales is second on the team in shots with 68, shots-on-goal with 40 and in assists with five. Junior goalkeeper Dawn Greathouse has played in goal 18 games, recording 95 saves and has a 1.03 goals-against-average, while allowing 19 goals on the year.
Series Records
Texas Tech will be looking for its first win over Baylor as the Bears hold a 3-0 advantage over the Red Raiders. Last year, Tech lost to the No. 17 Bears, 3-2, in Lubbock on Oct. 21.
Moving Up the Charts
Junior midfielder Jennifer Hamm keeps moving up the Tech record charts this season. Hamm currently ranks fifth in career assists with eight, seventh in points with 27 and tied for eighth in most goals with eight.
Graham Making Impact
Sophomore forward Carrie Graham has been a good fit for the Tech soccer program. In her first year as a Red Raider, Graham now ranks seventh in career goals with eight and ninth in points with 17.
Team Leaders
Sophomore forward Carrie Graham continues to pace the Red Raiders in goals with eight, followed by junior midfielder Jennifer Hamm with four. Graham also has a team-high 17 points, while Hamm leads Tech in shots with 74 and shots-on-goal with 43. Senior forward Kristy Frantz and junior defender Kelly Taylor each have a team-high four assists.
Head Coach Felix Oskam
Felix Oskam is in his third season as head coach of the Red Raiders and has compiled a 22-27-4 record. Previously, Oskam had served as an assistant coach for the team during the 1995 and 1996 seasons.
Prior to coming to Tech in 1995, Oskam served for three years as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs at the University of Tulsa. During the 1993 season, the Tulsa women's program finished ranked 18th in the nation. In 1991, the Tulsa men's team achieved a national ranking of 17. Oskam is currently a staff coach and instructor fro the North Texas Soccer Association and a Region III Olympic Development Program (ODP). He also worked as a staff coach for the ODP in Oklahoma and coached the Blackwatch '80 girls team select team in Tulsa.
Oskam played 12 years of club soccer in the Netherlands before attending the University of North Texas. While at North Texas, he helped guide the Eagles to their first national ranking and was twice chosen as a Texas Collegiate Soccer League All-Star.
Oskam holds a United States Soccer Federation "A" license and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
