She was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Athletics Compliance in December of 2001 and to Associate Athletics Director in September of 2005.
Brashear is responsible for maintaining the department's overall NCAA compliance program, which includes rules education and interpretations of NCAA legislation, continued development of policies and procedures for NCAA rules compliance, the establishment, evaluation and assessment of monitoring systems and enforcement of institutional, conference and NCAA rules.
Though Brashear reports to the athletics director on a daily basis, she works closely with the Faculty Athletics Representative and Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec.Â
Brashear has served on various university and Big 12 Conference committees as well as presenting NCAA compliance rules education sessions at both NCAA and Big 12 Conference meetings. Brashear received the Outstanding Associate Athletics Director award from the All-American Football Foundation in 2007.
Brashear earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University in 1994 and received a master's degree in speech communication in 1996 from OSU.
Brashear is active in the community serving on the District Education Improvement Council for Lubbock Independent School District. She has also volunteered her time with the American Cancer Society Cattle Baron Ball, Murfee Elementary PTA Board of Directors, All Saints Episcopal School Athletics Booster Club, National Charity League and First United Methodist Church.
Brashear is married to Lubbock native and former Texas Tech student-athlete Robert Brashear. The couple has two daughters: Ellyn Caroline and Lauren Grace.
