Jay Strader joined the Texas Tech Athletics Department in 2023 and is the Associate Director of Athletic Communications for softball and volleyball.
In his role, Strader serves as the primary media relations contact for the softball and volleyball teams along with head coaches Gerry Glasco and Tony Graystone. During his time at Tech, the Red Raider softball team has reached back-to-to WCWS Championship series and won the Big 12 Regular season title twice and the Big 12 postseason tournament title once.
Strader came back to Lubbock after spending a year and a half in Brunswick, Georgia where he was the Sports Information Director for the College of Coastal Georgia, an NAIA school that was in the Sun Conference. While at Coastal Georgia, Strader worked with all eight teams including volleyball, men and women's basketball, men and women's golf, softball and men and women's tennis in roles that included social media, media relations, sports information, broadcast, video, photo and graphic design.
A native of Tyler, Texas, Strader graduated with a bachelors in communications with a sports media certificate and a masters in mass communications from Texas Tech University in 2022.
