Alex Watkins

Alex Watkins enters his first season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach on the Texas Tech staff.
Watkins previously served as a strength and conditioning assistant with the Florida Gators, beginning in 2022.
He spent two seasons (2020–21) at Mississippi State as a strength and conditioning coach after serving as the assistant director of athletic performance for football at UAB in 2019. Watkins was the head of strength and conditioning for football at Texas Southern from 2016–18 and led the department at Stillman College from 2014–16.
Watkins played defensive line at the University of Alabama from 2007–11 and was part of two national championship teams in 2009 and 2011.
Following his collegiate career, he signed as a free agent with the Tennessee Titans in 2012 and the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 2013.
