Renae Boone enters her first season as the Lady Raiders' assistant coach.
Boone is coming to Tech with over 10 years of coaching experience and will also help with recruiting operations. For the last two years, Boone served as the assistant coach for the varsity volleyball and basketball teams, while serving as the head coach for the freshmen teams at Wylie High School. While there, the freshman volleyball team went undefeated in district and the freshman basketball team finished second in district. The Wylie varsity volleyball team also won district for the first time as a 5A school and advanced to the regional quarterfinals. In addition, the varsity basketball team claimed first place in district play, also for the first time since becoming 5A. Boone coached three athletes who earned All-State recognition.
Prior to her stint at Wylie, Boone served as the assistant volleyball coach from 2022-23 at Colleyville High School. Boone aided the varsity team to a 43-7 record and its first state title in school history. She also was the assistant coach for varsity basketball, helping the team to a regional final appearance and its furthest playoff run in program history. She was the head coach for the JV volleyball team and taught health and physical education at Colleyville. Boone coached a variety of All-American, All-State, All-Region and All-District selections.
From 2019-21, Boone coached the high school basketball team at Knob Noster School District, increasing the team's win total from two to 14 in just a couple of seasons. She led the team to a conference championship for the first time in 10 years and developed four All-Conference and two All-District players.
Before her time with Knob Noster School District, Boone was a coach for the Angelo State University women's basketball program from 2015-19, serving as the head coach in her final two seasons and as the assistant coach for her first two seasons. As the head coach, Boone led the Rambelles to a 23-7 record in 2017-18 and a 26-6 record the following year. She also led the team to two Lone Star Conference Regular-Season Championships and two NCAA DII Tournament appearances, one coming in the Sweet 16 and the other in the Round of 32. As the assistant coach, she helped with recruiting operations and post player development, aiding the Rambelles to 50 wins over two seasons, two more conference titles and two NCAA Tournament bids, including the school's first Sweet 16 in program history.
Prior to her coaching stint at Angelo State, Boone served as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Arkansas State University women's basketball team. In this position, Boone oversaw travel, team events and video analysis. The Red Wolves would go on to win 24 games that year, making a Sun Belt Conference Tournament appearance and receiving a bid into the WNIT.
Before her position at Arkansas State, Boone served as a graduate assistant at her alma mater of Central Missouri. In that season, the Jennies went 26-5 and qualified for the NCAA DII Central Regional Tournament. She also coordinated travel, recruitment, academic support and event planning. Boone was a four-year letterwinner for Central Missouri's women's basketball team and reached two NCAA Tournaments. She also served as a student assistant for the volleyball team in 2012, who went 26-7 and made an NCAA Tournament run.
Boone graduated in 2013 with a bachelor's degree from the University of Central Missouri in physical education before earning a master's degree in sport administration from Arkansas State University in 2020.
