TSN tabs three Red Raiders preseason All-Americans

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Sporting News, one of five outlets used to determine consensus All-American status at the end of the season, named three Red Raiders to its 2026 Preseason All-America team this week. Terrance Carter Jr. was named a first-team selection while A.J. Holmes Jr. and Ben Roberts were tabbed second-team picks.
The Red Raiders tied for the fifth-most preseason all-america selections across the FBS ranks alongside Geogia, Iowa and Ohio State. Texas led the list with six, followed by Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Oregon with four a piece.
A year ago, then-seniors David Bailey and Jacob Rodriguez were named first-team selections to the Sporting News 2025 College Football All-America Team en route to becoming the sixth and seventh individuals in program history honored as unanimous All-Americans.
