All four of Texas Tech’s announced game times for the 2026 season are at 6 p.m. CT or later
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech's game times and television designations for its first two games of the 2026 season were announced Wednesday as the Red Raiders will host Abilene Christian in a 6 p.m. CT kickoff on FOX Sports 1 before traveling to Oregon State a week later for a 6:30 p.m. CT start on CBS.
Texas Tech already has four kick times at 6 p.m. CT or later for the 2026 season, including three inside Jones AT&T Stadium with not only Abilene Christian on Sept. 5 but the Big 12 opener versus Houston on Sept. 18 and the regular-season finale against TCU on Thanksgiving Night. The Big 12 previously announced a 7 p.m. CT kick for both the Houston and TCU games with the league opener versus the Cougars airing on FOX and the Battle for the Saddle contest versus the Horned Frogs on ESPN.
Abilene Christian will serve as Texas Tech's season-opening opponent for the second time in a three-year span as the two schools previously kicked off the 2024 campaign with a 52-51 overtime victory by the Red Raiders. It will only be the 11th all-time meeting between the two schools that are separated by only 175 miles, completing a two-game contract with the Wildcats, who have reached the NCAA FCS Playoffs each of the past two seasons under former Texas Tech defensive coordinator Keith Patterson.
The Red Raiders will complete a home-and-home series with Oregon State on Sept. 12 in their first-ever trip to Riser Stadium in Corvallis. It will be only the third all-time meeting between the Beavers and Red Raiders as Texas Tech edged Oregon State, 15-14, in 1959 and then ran away with last season's meeting with a 45-14 victory. The game will be carried nationally by CBS as part of the Pac-12 television agreement, marking Texas Tech's first appearance on the network since the 2023 season opener at Wyoming.
All additional game times and television designations for the remaining eight games on Texas Tech's schedule will fall under either a 12-day or 6-day selection window, per the Big 12's television agreement with FOX, ESPN and TNT.
