LUBBOCK – Texas Tech sophomore Christian Anderson has officially declared for the 2026 NBA Draft after an All-American and record-setting season.
"Lubbock, thank you," Anderson wrote in a social media post to announce his decision to stay in the NBA Draft. "From the moment I stepped on campus, Texas Tech felt like home. Coach McCasland and his entire staff believed in me, pushed me, and helped me become the player and person I am today. To my teammates and the Red Raider faithful – the love and support you showed me every single night meant everything. The brotherhood we built is something I'll carry with me forever."
Anderson, who earned All-Big 12 First Team and three all-America honors in the 2025-26 season, established a new Red Raider program record with 244 assists along with scoring 18.5 points per game. An Atlanta, Georgia native, Anderson played two seasons at Texas Tech where he scored 983 points, had 321 assists and made 179 3-pointers (40.0%) in 68 career games. This season, Anderson made 108 3-pointers which is the second most in program history. He finished the season scoring in double figures in 30 games, over 20 points in 12 games and went for 30-plus in two games. He scored a career-high 34 points and had 11 assists in the season opener for his first double-double of his career and finished the season with eight double-doubles.
Anderson led the Big 12 and was fifth in the nation in assists while finishing fifth in the conference in scoring. He had a career-high 13 assists and scored 19 points in a home win over Oklahoma State and went for 31 points and a career-best 11 rebounds in a win over Cincinnati. He shot 108-for-260 (41.5%) from beyond the arc, including a season-best 8-for-10 performance at Baylor where he had 26 points. In the NCAA Tournament First Round, Anderson had 18 points and five assists in a win over Akron. He led the Red Raiders to a win over No. 3 Duke at Madison Square Garden with 27 points and also had 12 points and nine assists in a home win over No. 6 Houston. Anderson's 18.5 points per game matched Jarrett Culver for the highest scoring average for a sophomore since Andre Emmett scored 18.7 points per game in his sophomore season (2001-02). He finished the season with eight games with 10 or more assists to establish the new single-season program record and made five or more 3-pointers in eight games.
Anderson earned Associated Press All-America Third Team, USBWA All-America Third Team, The Sporting News All-American Third Team and was an All-Big 12 First Team selection. He was also on the Wooden Award Ballot as one of the top 15 players in the nation and was a two-time Big 12 Player of the Week.
The 2026 NBA Draft is set for June 23-24 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and will air live on ABC and ESPN. Â
