The first two games of the series will air nationally on ESPN2.
This will be the Red Raiders final road trip of the regular season and have a chance to clinch the Big 12 Regular Season title while away from Lubbock. If Tech wins two of the three against Arizona State, they will clinch a share and win outright if they take all three games.
Quick Hits:
Junior Desirae Spearman makes her return to her hometown of El Paso this week. The outfielder/utility has been a mainstay in the Red Raiders lineup slashing .345/.762/.482 with nine home runs and 39 RBI. Spearman will have a big crowd of family and friends in attendance for Wednesday's doubleheader.
Mihyia Davis is one of the most valuable players in the country and has been that way her whole career. Among active players she ranks first in hits (323), at-bats (794) and stolen bases (131). She also ranks second in runs (223) and fourth in games played (234). She is the only active player with 300 hits.
NiJaree Canady continues to make history. The reigning National Pitcher of the Year eclipsed 1,000 strikeouts for her career after striking out against BYU. Canady is just one of two active players with 1,000 career K's and the only active player with 1,000 K's and 90 wins. Canady had another good outing against Utah as she struck out 18 batters and went 2-0 in her weekend.
Kaitlyn "KT" Terry has been arguably the team's best player so far this season. She leads the team with a .521 batting average, which is also fourth best in the country, and also has a 1.48 ERA and a 17-1 record. Terry also set the school record with a 24-game hit streak and is currently riding a 34-game on base streak.
Gerry Glasco is now 65-0 in conference series dating back to his time at Louisiana. The head coach has lost the first game of a series 10 times and has comeback to win each time. Tech looked to be in jeopardy of breaking that streak after a tough loss to Arizona in game one, but retaliated in a big way with back-to-back run-rule victories.
Jackie Lis has been on fire at the plate over the last few weeks. The senior is up to 14 homers on the season which puts her at 58 for her career, the 5th most of any active player.
Lauren Allred set new career highs with 4 hits and 5 RBI against Utah State as she looks to be finding a groove late in the season. The team's RBI and run leader last year was a crucial part of the World Series run and looks to be trending in the right direction with postseason looming.
The Red Raiders have already broken a handful of program records including homers, RBI, run-rule wins, consecutive hitless innings, no-hitters, consecutive no-hitters, consecutive road wins and are on pace to break a few more before the season is over. Mia Williams and Mihyia Davis will be fighting over who has the program single season record for runs.
