No. 8 Texas Tech posts runner-up finish in West Virginia

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — No. 8 Texas Tech closed out the Mountaineer Invitational on Tuesday with a runner-up finish, tying for second at 16-under 848 after a marathon final round at Pete Dye Golf Club.
Clemson claimed the team title at 20-under 844, while host West Virginia matched the Red Raiders at 16-under.
Teams battled through multiple weather delays throughout the day, with the final round stretching close to 10 hours. Despite the challenges, Texas Tech capped the event with its best round of the tournament, firing an 11-under 277.
The Red Raiders conclude the regular season on Tuesday with four first- or second-place finishes in their last five events and now turn their attention to the postseason, beginning with the Big 12 Championship (April 27-29) at Prairie Dunes Golf Club in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Adam Bresnu delivered one of the top final rounds of the Mountaineer Invitational, surging up the leaderboard with a 7-under 65. The junior climbed 23 spots after entering the final round tied for 31st at 3-over. Bresnu was bogey-free and reached 8-under through his first 14 holes, highlighted by six birdies and an eagle on the 504-yard, par-5 eighth, until closing the final four holes 1-over. He finished 4-under 212 for the tournament, tying for eighth. It marked Bresnu's fifth top-10 finish in 10 events this season.
Ben Gregg matched Bresnu for eighth at 4-under, closing with a 3-under 69 after earlier rounds of 73 and 70. The finish marks back-to-back top-10s for Gregg, his first two of the season.
Overall, Texas Tech placed five of its six players inside the top 15 among a field of 104 competitors. Connor Graham and individual participant Simon Hovdal each tied for 12th at 3-under 213, while Tim Wiedemeyer finished tied for 15th at 2-under 214.
