March 23, 2026 | Men's Golf
PALM CITY, Fla. — No. 10 Texas Tech opened the Valspar Collegiate Invitational in blistering fashion Monday, sitting in second place at 28-under-par after 36 holes at Floridian National Golf Club. The Red Raiders trail No. 1 Auburn by two shots entering Tuesday's final round and hold an eight-shot advantage over No. 6 Texas, which sits third, in a loaded 16-team field.
Monday's 36-hole day on the par-71 course was highlighted by Texas Tech posting the low round of the day in the second round with a 17-under 267 — the program's third-lowest team round of the season. The Red Raiders opened with an 11-under 273 before firing the 17-under 267 to reach 28-under 540.
Standout performances from Ben Gregg and Tim Wiedemeyer powered Texas Tech's second-round surge. Gregg recorded the best round versus par of his career with a 5-under 66, while Wiedemeyer matched his career low with a 7-under 64. The 64 tied his lowest score of the season, which was his 8-under 64 in round three of the Amer Ari Invitational last month.
Gregg leads Texas Tech and is tied for fourth individually at 8-under 134 (68-66), while Wiedemeyer sits tied for eighth at 7-under 135 after bouncing back from an even-par 71 in the opening round.
Adam Bresnu is tied for 10th at 6-under 136, while Connor Graham is tied for 19th at 5-under 137. Brady McHenry rounds out the lineup tied for 31st at 3-under 139.
Texas Tech showed depth throughout the day, with all five players at even par or better in the opening round and all five carding under-par scores in the second round.
The tournament concludes with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. EDT on Tuesday.
