Brian Nance and Quintin Jordan will move to Assistant General Manager titles with Sean Kenney as Director of Player Personnel
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire announced Thursday title promotions for several members of his off-the-field staff under general manager James Blanchard and Associate A.D. for Football Administration Antonio Huffman.
Brian Nance and Quintin Jordan – two charter members of McGuire's staff – will both now serve as assistant general managers, with Nance overseeing high school personnel recruiting and Jordan continuing in his operations role while adding revenue share management duties. Nance was previously Texas Tech's Director of Player Personnel, a role Sean Kenney will move into entering each of their fifth seasons.
"The foundation of our program will always revolve around our players, and these three individuals are key elements of that process," McGuire said. "Our personnel staff under James Blanchard is regarded as one of the best in the nation, not only from the classes we've been able to sign but the ability to identify top talent. The trio of Sean, Quintin and Brian are essential in our process and deserving of these promotions."
In addition to his role overseeing Texas Tech's revenue share management, Jordan is instrumental in many of the behind-the-scenes aspects of the football program, assisting with the planning and execution of team travel, while serving as the primary contact for the initial eligibility process of incoming student-athletes, which includes Texas Tech's admissions, progress towards degree, financial aid and NCAA certification offices. Jordan also coordinates Texas Tech's annual senior and junior retreats each summer as well as numerous team events throughout the calendar year.
Nance and Kenney were both among Texas Tech's first hires to the personnel staff prior to McGuire's first season. Since then, Texas Tech has attracted the nation's top players in the country as McGuire and his staff signed a high school class that ranks as high as No. 13 nationally by ESPN and No. 17 by 247Sports. The Red Raiders also went out to sign the No. 2 transfer portal class in the country that was highlighted by quarterback Brendan Sorsby and a slew of experienced replacements up front for one of the nation's top defenses.
Texas Tech's approach in building its roster resulted in the school's first Big 12 Championship this past fall and an appearance in the College Football Playoff. The Red Raiders ended the season ranked as high as No. 7 in the national rankings, their highest final ranking in program history.
