Texas Tech will learn its first College Football Playoff ranking of the season at 6 p.m. Tuesday night
LUBBOCK, Texas โ Texas Tech remained at No. 13 in the Associated Press poll Sunday despite the Red Raiders' second top-25 victory of the season Saturday in a 34-26 win over then-No. 22 Arizona. The win did move the Red Raiders up one spot to No. 13 in the U.S. LBM coaches poll.
The Red Raiders improved to 7-1 on the season and 4-1 in Big 12 in Big 12 play with the win over Arizona, which matched Texas Tech's longest home winning streak in the process. Texas Tech enters this weekend's matchup with West Virginia having won its last 13 home games at Galaxy Stadium, which matches the school record that was set during the World War II era over the course of the 1939 through 1942 seasons.
The Wildcats moved down two spots to No. 24 in the Associated Press poll following the loss to the Red Raiders. The Big 12 has five teams ranked inside the AP top 25 this week as Utah is No. 3 followed by BYU at No. 7, Texas Tech at No. 13 and Houston at No. 17 overall.
The polls will likely see a shakeup after this weekend with five top-25 matchups on deck, including the annual meeting of BYU and Utah in the Big 12. Utah sits atop the league standings at 8-0 overall and 5-0 in Big 12 play with the Red Raiders and BYU both in second place at 7-1 and 4-1 against conference foes.
This is the 27th-consecutive week the Red Raiders have appeared in both polls dating back to the start of the 2025 season, their longest streak in school history. Texas Tech will learn where it stands in the eyes of the College Football Playoff selection committee as its first set of rankings will be announced at 6 p.m. Tuesday live on ESPN.
The Red Raiders will be back in a prime television window Saturday when Texas Tech hosts West Virginia. Kickoff is slated for 8:30 p.m. CT from Galaxy Stadium with television coverage provided on ESPN.
Limited tickets still remain and can be purchased by visiting the online ticket portal here at TexasTech.com or by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at 806-742-TECH during normal business hours.
