Texas Tech senior cornerback picked off two passes in the Red Raidersโ 29-7 victory at Colorado last Saturday
LUBBOCK, Texas โ Texas Tech senior cornerback Brice Pollock added another honor Tuesday for his performance at Colorado as he was named the Thorpe Award National Defensive Back of the Week.
Pollock recorded a pair of second-half interceptions to push the Red Raiders to a 29-7 victory over Colorado, improving Texas Tech to a perfect 5-0 heading into its lone open date on the schedule. Pollock was previously recognized Monday as a Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week and the National Defensive Player of the Week by the Shriners Children's East-West Bowl.
Behind his two interceptions, Texas Tech created four second-half takeaways to erase a 7-3 halftime deficit and record its fourth-consecutive road win by at least 10 points dating back to the end of the 2025 season. Texas Tech blanked Colorado after an opening drive touchdown, marking the second-straight week the Red Raiders did not allow a point in the second half.
Pollock sniffed out a Colorado trick play attempt for Texas Tech's first takeaway of the night to start the second half, getting a toe down in the process to record his first interception of the season on the opposite sideline. He'd step in front of an Isaac Wilson pass two possessions later, returning the interception 24 yards into Colorado territory. The Red Raiders settled for a Stone Harrington field goal onย each of the next two offensive drives, combining those two kicks with a Terrance Carter Jr. touchdown reception to take a 15-7 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Pollock entered this season as one of 35 defensive backs on the Thorpe Award watch list after a strong debut a year ago as a Red Raider. Pollock now has eight interceptions for his career, which ranks tied for third nationally among all active FBS players and tied for second among cornerbacks.
Pollock and the Red Raiders return to Galaxy Stadium on Oct. 17 to host Arizona State for Homecoming on the Texas Tech campus. Coverage will be provided nationally on FOX and the Texas Tech Sports Network.
