INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
MATCHUP: RV Texas Tech (7-1-0, 1-0-0 Big 12 ) vs. Houston (6-0-2, 1-0-0 Big 12)
DATE: Â Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025
TIME: 7 p.m.
LOCATION: Lubbock, Texas (John Walker Soccer Complex)
BY THE NUMBERS:
18: After Friday's 1-0 win at Baylor, the Red Raiders improved to 15-0-3 in their last 18 September matches dating back to a Sept. 25, 2022 loss against UT. The Red Raiders over that span have outscored opponents by a margin of 39-6 (+33).
2: While putting the ball in the back of the net is the name of the game, scoring twice has been critical for the Red Raiders success as since the start of the 2022 season, the Red Raiders are now 40-0-1 (lone tie at No. 7 BYU in 2023) when scoring two goals. When you expand that mark out to the beginning of the 2021 season, Tech is 49-2-1 when scoring twice in a match.
11: With her penalty kick goal on Friday night, the Red Raiders improved to a perfect 11-0-0 when Peyton Parsons scores in a match. The PK goal for Parsons was her second in as many matches, as the Denver native also scored the game winner from the spot in last week's 2-1 win over Utah State. Known for her prowess from the spot, Parsons also scored what turned out to be the game-winner in PKs in the Red Raiders Round of 32 win over Princeton back in 2023.
QUICK KICKS:
• Texas Tech Soccer returns home after a dramatic 1-0 win at Baylor, where after a sluggish first 45 minutes, the Red Raiders owned the first 25 minutes of the second half as the Red Raiders ripped 13 second half shots including a 50th minute strike from Peyton Parsons and a Sam Courtwright offering that rang off the cross bar.
• The Red Raiders closed the 20-minute sequence by drawing the foul in the box which after review was correctly determined to be a PK.
• As she did the match prior against Utah State, Parsons stepped to the spot and deposited her fourth goal of the season and her seventh career PK goal (her first career PK goal, against Princeton in the NCAA Round of 32 in 2023, technically did not count).
• Parsons needs just one more goal to reach 15 for her career. The Red Raiders are 11-0-0 when Parsons scores (not including the PK against Princeton). The Red Raiders return home Thursday for just their fourth home match of the season and second home match in the month of September.
• The Walker has been kind for the Red Raiders as they are 23-2-2 in their last 27 overall home matches, and 22-1-1 in the regular season at home since the switch from the artificial turf surface to the natural grass surface before the 2023 season.
• After the win over Baylor on Friday night the Red Raiders also ran their Big 12 mark to 22-2-7 (.823) in their last 31 conference matches and their road Big 12 winning streak to six-straight.
• The Red Raiders are also now 15-0-3 in the month of September since a 2022 setback and have outscored their foes 39-6 over that span. Tech's win over Baylor also marks the second time in three seasons that the Red Raiders have won their Big 12 opener and extended the Red Raiders Big 12 opener to seven-straight matches. The last time the Red Raiders lost the Big 12 opener was 2018.
• Having scored just five times in their last three matches, the Red Raiders will look to break a streak of three-straight goals that have been scored off set pieces and have scored five of their last seven off set pieces. The Red Raiders have scored the game-winner in four-straight matches off set pieces (two Macy Blackburn corner kicks and two Peyton Parsons PKs).
• Over the four-match winning streak the Red Raiders have outscored opponents 7-1, allowing just one goal to Utah State. Three of the Red Raiders four wins have been clean sheets for goalkeeper Faith Nguyen, who now has recorded 14 career clean sheets, the fifth-most in program history.
