Red Raiders three-peat at Red Raider Invitational, Zareteky earns win
September 24, 2025 | Women's Golf
LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech women's golf shot a final round of 7-over-par to help capture its third consecutive Red Raider Invitational title at the Rawls Course on Wednesday. Senior Lauren Zaretsky overcame a four-shot deficit to earn her second career victory.
Â
Four Red Raiders earned a top-15 finish in the field of 84, but Zaretsky fired a 4-under-par final round of 68 to place her on top of the group. Three birdies to one dropped shot on the front kept Zaretsky in the hunt, but her back-nine performance pushed her into the lead.
Â
Back-to-back birdies at holes No. 13 and No. 14 captured the solo lead, and she never gave it back, finishing a shot clear of her playing partner, Houston Christian's Natcha Makmanee. Zaretsky's final round was the lowest of the day and just the third under-par round in the windy conditions.
Â
Freshman Amy Squires fired an even par final round of 72 that included birdies at holes No. 9 and No. 12. The sixth-place finish is the best of her young career and her first career top-10.
Â
Junior Maja Ambroziak climbed six spots into the top-10 with a 4-over-par final round of 76, which included a birdie on hole No. 13. Her tie-for-ninth is the best finish in her last five collegiate events.
Â
A 7-over-par round of 79 was enough to keep senior Danique Stokmans in the top 15. She holed a birdie on No. 9. The finish is her career-best at the event.
The Red Raiders' team score of 7-over-par 295 was nine shots clear of the next best team round, as the team separated itself for a 12-shot win against the second-place finisher, Houston Christian. Tech started the day in first, but with only a two-shot lead.
Texas Tech will return to action Oct. 6-7 at the Illinois Invitational at Medinah, hosted by Illinois at Medinah Country Club.
