LUBBOCK, Texas – The final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings are in, and a doubles pair has solidified All-American status after staying in the top-10 of the rankings. In addition, Tech also had one player ranked in singles and finished with its highest team ranking in seven years.
The duo of Mariia Hlahola and Avelina Sayfetdinova were named ITA Doubles All-Americans after finishing the year with a No. 9 doubles ranking. To qualify for All-American status, pairs must either win the ITA All-American Doubles title, advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championships in the fall or finish the spring in the top-10 doubles rankings. This is the second-straight season that a doubles team earned All-American status after Sayfetdinova and Metka Komac became the first Doubles All-Americans last year. As a duo, the pair led the team in wins after going 26-5 overall and 18-4 in dual matches, all coming at the court one position. The All-Big 12 First Team doubles selections also led the way in ranked wins with 11 on the season, highlighted by two wins over the No. 5-ranked and All-American pairing of Maddy Zampardo and Gabriella Broadfoot of NC State. Â
Junior Yekaterina Dmitrichenko closed out the season with a No. 115 singles ranking, the first end of the year ranking of her career. Making All-Big 12 First Team in singles, Dmitrichenko led the Lady Raiders in overall and dual singles wins after going 24-5 and 19-2, respectively. Also going 11-1 in Big 12 play with a 10-1 record at court two and 9-1 record at court three, Dmitrichenko's .905 dual singles winning percentage is good for second in program history. In addition, she led the team in ranked singles wins with four and clinched the Lady Raiders' regular season and Big 12 tournament titles against Arizona and UCF.
Texas Tech finished the season with its highest team end of the year ranking since 2018 after checking in at No. 14. The Lady Raiders had one of their best seasons in program history, going 23-3 overall and 12-1 in the Big 12 regular season to win the trophy. The Lady Raiders would go on to win the Big 12 Tournament and picked up six top-25 victories as well as a top-10 win over NC State. Texas Tech qualified for its 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament and earned a hosting bid for the NCAA First and Second rounds this year – the sixth time overall and first hosting since 2018. The team's .885 winning percentage is a school record, and its 23 wins marks the third most in program history.
