LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 11/12 Red Raiders (37-10, 16-2) will look to clinch their first Big 12 regular season title in program history this weekend against Arizona State (33-16, 13-8). Previously in Tech softball:
- The Red Raiders earned their sixth Big 12 series win of the season after taking down No. 12/13 Arizona. Tech will face Arizona State this weekend and if they win 2 of the 3 games against the Sun Devils, they will lock up the first Big 12 Regular Season Title in program history.
- NiJaree Canady threw more than 300 pitches this past weekend and is now the sole leader for ERA in the NCAA, boasting a 0.83. Canady may not have had her strikeout stuff, but the gritty performances in the circle were arguably just as impressive against a very good Arizona offense.
- Senior outfielder Demi Elder has been a huge lift for the Red Raiders offense since returning to the starting lineup. Since Elder's return the team is 14-1 and she has reached base safely in 14 of those 15 games while batting .444 so far this season.
- Tech's defense has settled in nicely since Big 12 play and lead the conference with a .982 fielding percentage in conference play. Tech also leads the Big 12 in batting average (.332) and ERA (1.62) in Big 12 play.
- Mihyia Davis recorded the programs first cycle on Wednesday against UTA in the Red Raiders 12-3 run-rule victory.
The Sun Devils are 9-1 all-time against Tech. Arizona State was 9-0 before Tech got its first win against them in 2019.
