
Men’s DMR win third-straight Texas Relays title

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team wrapped up day three of the 97th annual Texas Relays presented by Truist Friday evening at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

For a third-straight year, the Tech men ended day three of the Texas Relays winning the DMR. The team of Nathan Kapel, George Garcia, Liam Walsh and Vincent Koech combined for a time of 9:44.19. The legs of a DMR consist of 1600m, 400m, 800m and 16000m.
The men's and women's 4x100 kicked off day two in the prelims, securing spots for Saturday's final – both teams won its heats. The men clocked in at 39.48, while the women came in at 44.08.
Kimarlie Stewart, who ran the anchor on the 4x100, also won the men's 100m timed final at 10.30. Two Red Raiders secured spots in tomorrow's 110m hurdles final in Antoine Andrews and Sincere Rhea. Andrews clocked in at 13.68 as Rhea went 13.66. Naomi Krebs represented the women, winning her heat at 13.22.
Shelby Frank and Zoe Burleson finished fourth and fifth in the discus. Frank threw 58.97m (193-5), while Burleson threw 56.57m (185-7).
