No. 14 Lady Raiders sweep Houston

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 14-ranked Texas Tech Lady Raiders delivered a dominant performance at the McLeod Tennis Center on Friday afternoon, shutting out the Houston Cougars with a commanding 4-0 victory.
The Lady Raiders (12-2, 5-1 Big 12) wasted no time gaining an early advantage as Houston (3-9, 0-6 Big 12) forfeited the doubles match on court three. Seizing the momentum, the No. 4-ranked pair of Aveline Sayfetdinova and Mariia Hlahola showcased their skills at the top court, defeating Gabriela Cortes and Sophie Schouten, 6-3, to secure the doubles point and give Tech a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Raiders carried their dominance into singles play as Hlahola set the pace with an impressive 6-4, 6-0 victory over Heta Nutinen on court three. Yekaterina Dmitrichenko followed suit with a decisive 6-2, 6-1 win over Iva Sepa on court two, further extending Texas Tech's lead.
Hailey Murphy secured the Lady Raiders' win on court five, battling through a competitive second set, 6-2, 6-4, clinching the match and sweeping the Cougars. With the match in hand, play on courts one, four, and six were left unfinished.
Up next, Texas Tech will remain in Lubbock for a showdown against No. 17 UCF on Sunday at 12 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.
