
Red Raiders open outdoor season at ACU and TCU

The throws squad kicked off the day with strong marks
FORT WORTH, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team officially opened the outdoor season competing in Fort Worth at the TCU Alumni Invite and in Abilene at the 11th-annual Wes Kittley Invite Friday evening.
The women's discus crew shined at TCU going 1-2-4 with all new personal best marks, led by Shelby Frank. The North Dakota native heaved it 61.25m (200-11) for the No. 2 all-time Tech mark. Meanwhile, Zoe Burleson went 59.49m (195-2) as McKenzie Davis went 52.89m (173-6).
For the men, newcomer Oscar Rodriguez paced the way coming in second with a new PB of 59.11m (175-5).
In the hammer throw, Wood, on his final attempt, threw 63.23m (207-5) putting him No. 3 all-time for Texas Tech.
Over in Abilene, Isaac Hernandez and Lily Mather won the 3000m steeple chase. Hernandez clocked in at 9:38.88, while Mather clocked in at 10:50.33. The women's 1500m saw the Red Raiders go 1-2-3, led by Taylor Goodman. The freshman crossed the end line at 4:39.62 as Brenda Kibor went 4:45.73 with Alexia Escalera Mack came in at 4:46.45.
